DUCOM Drexel University First Class

Welcome, Drexel Students!

On May 29, Tower Health and Drexel University College welcomed a class of 20, third-year medical students to Reading Hospital.

These students will be able to complete all eight third-year core rotations at Reading Hospital, including Ambulatory Medicine, Family Medicine, Inpatient Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. Drexel fourth-year students also have the option to complete their required Emergency Medicine and selected elective rotations. Ten of the third-year students have elected to remain at Reading Hospital for the entire year; these full-year students are called Regional Medical Campus students.

As the largest hospital between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Reading Hospital will give these talented students access to the latest technology while also providing the opportunity to learn from an institution with a proven track record for delivering the highest quality patient care. Pair that environment with education and training provided by one of the finest medical schools in the country and you’ve got a top choice destination for the healthcare providers of the future.

In February, Tower Health and Drexel University signed a 20-year academic affiliation agreement associated with the development of “Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health” – an additional site location for Drexel’s medical school that will be located in West Reading, less than a mile from Reading Hospital. Construction of the additional site location will begin this summer with an anticipated completion in time for the 2021-2022 academic year.
